Gill, Evelin Rose (nee: Zabala)
Passed away peacefully on April 4, 2021 at the age of 72.
Born and raised in Tolong Bayawan, Negros Oriental in the Philippines, Lynn eventually moved to Canada with the prospects of new life experiences and greater opportunities.
Throughout her life she proudly held the titles of mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and friend. Lynn was the loving and devoted mother to Davelyn, Dela Jente (Harold Dela Jente), Christy Gill, Jeffrey Gill (Lisa Gill), Steven Gill (Nicole Gatchene), Jason Gill and the late Darvey-Patrick Quilaton. She was the devoted wife to the late Brian Gill, and the eldest sibling of Henry Zabala, Edwardo Melendres and Felicimo Melendres. She also treasured her roles as a cousin and an aunt to family members spread far and wide throughout the Philippines and beyond. Although we all share very special bonds with Lynn, it is no surprise that she especially loved and enjoyed her role as Lola, Mamita and G-Ma given to her by her grandchildren: Elijah and Jacob Dela Jente, Francis and Ryan Quilaton, Kaleb and Lucas Collins, and Jace Patrick Gill.
Her entire life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Always concerned about the well beings of others above her own, she loved with every part of herself, and gave all of the energy that she had to making others feel cared for, thought of and special in their existence. Her phone call check ins will surely be missed.
In addition to recognizing the devotion that she had towards caring for others, our family would like to send our deepest gratitude to the incredible support staff at St Marys Hospital who organized virtual family visits, helped Lynn feel cared for, and held her hand in the moments when we couldn't be there by her side.
Although we are all deeply saddened by the passing of Lynn, we find strength within ourselves knowing that God recognized Lynn’s tired body, and arranged for greater plans to return her home to reunite with her mother-Rosita Zabala, father-Romeo Frias Zabala, her son Darvey-Patrick Quilaton, and her husband Brian Gill.
To commemorate her life, we invite Lynn’s relatives and friends to her Celebration of Life at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 from 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM (Eastern Daylight Time) on Thursday, April 15th, 2021. Please note that if you plan to attend, masks are mandatory and you must RSVP your attendance through the funeral home website or by calling (519)749-8467. A private service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 pm. This will be lived streamed and recorded for future viewing.
