It is with great sadness that the family of Emerson Martin announces his passing on June 11, 2022 at Hospice Wellington after a short battle with cancer at the age of 89. He approached his diagnosis with positivity and was an inspiration to all throughout his journey.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Margaret (Bechtel) Martin, his son Paul Martin (Pascale Bonin) and a proud Grandpapa to Gabriel and Jeremy Martin. Emerson was predeceased by his son James (1987) , his parents Cranson and Barbara Martin, his brothers Moses and Clayton Martin, his in-laws Jack (Ella) Bechtel, Harold(Donna) Bechtel and Glen Brown.

He was a treasured brother to Henry (Leah), Maryann (Orvie), David (Viola) and brother-in-law to Seleda Martin.

Fondly remembered by the remaining Bechtel clan Robert (Bea) Bechtel, Ken Audrey) Bechtel, MaryEllen Brown, Linda Bechtel and numerous nieces, nephews in both the Martin and Bechtel families.

Emerson was a well-known milk truck driver, baseball coach, Wanner Mennonite member, and a community volunteer with the church, VON, crisis line and Hospice Wellington. He was honoured by the Ontario Government for 20 years of volunteer service with the VON. He loved a good conversation and treated everyone he met with respect.

Special thanks to the Palliative team, Hospice Wellington and to his beloved son Paul and grandson Gabriel for the excellent care given to Emerson during his final weeks.

Emerson's family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519) 749-8467. Memorial Service at Wanner Mennonite Church, 1725 Beaverdale Rd. Cambridge, on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. Interment Wanner Mennonite Cemetery.
