Obituary for Elsa Luebbert

Luebbert, Elsa (nee Klein)

Born April 17th, 1939 in East Prussia and immigrated to Canada in 1961. After an 8 year battle with congestive heart failure and cardiovascular dementia, mom died peacefully on March 7th, 2024.

Predeceased by her life partner, George Kofler (1992), her parents Helena and Otto Klein, brothers Werner and Rudy Klein and daughter-in-law Heather Luebbert.

Survived by her sons, Mike and Ralph Luebbert and her daughter Ramona Mitchell (Peter Forler) and grandsons David, Nathan and Kyle Luebbert and Andrew and Adam Mitchell.

When mom came to Canada, she became a housekeeper, which she continued to do until well past the age of retirement. Mom worked for the same families for decades, one of which particularly treated her and all of us like family (thank you to Mary Heier).

Mom loved the outdoors, gardening and travelling. She lead a very active lifestyle walking, biking and swimming until her health started to decline.

Thank you to all the PSW's for their excellent care who made it possible for mom to stay in her own home for as long as possible. A very special heartfelt thank you to all the warm, kind and compassionate staff at Heritage House St. Jacobs for their care of mom for the last 31 days of her life. You are angels on earth.

Cremation has taken place.

Our family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 2 to 5pm.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
