Obituary for Elizabeth Taylor

Taylor, Elizabeth:

With great sadness, we announce Liz Taylor (nee Elizabeth Claire Russell), passed away quietly in her 91st year, surrounded by family at Sunnyside Home Long Term Care.

Predeceased by her husband Dr. Dave Taylor, survived by her children Lynne (David), Cam (Patsy) her grandchildren Kelly, Christine, Scott and Wes, and her great-grandchildren Hayley and Liam.

Liz had a Masters degree in rehabilitative physiotherapy and was in charge of a therapeutic polio centre for children at the War Memorial Children's Hospital in London, Ontario. After meeting her partner for life, Dave, they moved to Gravenhurst, Beachburg, Deep River and then Port Elgin, where Dave set up practice as a family physician and Liz was known to many as a caring receptionist.

Liz was an equestrian, a canoe tripper, a master canoeist, and a lover of many, many dogs, cats, horses, and a variety of other pets. In her later years, she spent many hours volunteering at PRANCE in Port Elgin. She enjoyed dances, nights out with friends, card games, hosting parties and family gatherings. Her love of the outdoors, the north, her family, and her pets was endless. Anyone was welcomed into her home with love, friendship and generosity. Those who were lucky enough to know her in life will cherish her in memory.

Arrangements entrusted to Henry Walser Funeral Home (519-749-8467). A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Sunnyside Foundation or the Grey-Bruce Animal Shelter would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
