Obituary for Elizabeth "Beth" Kreutzkamp

Kreutzkamp, Elizabeth Iona

It is with great sadness and joy that we announce the passing of our dear mother and wife, Beth Kreutzkamp, into the next life. It was very appropriate that she entered her eternal home on Easter Sunday 2022 - He is Risen!

Beth was born Elizabeth Iona Hugill on June 30, 1958, into a loving family - parents Wes and Alice (nee Thiel) Hugill, sisters Sharon Sanders (Ted), Elaine Strom (Bob), and brother Gary (Cathy).

She was proud of her small-town roots in Zurich, Ontario, but we are thankful her family moved to Kitchener in 1969. The passing of her loving mother in 1972 was formative in her life and set her on a path of caring for others - Beth was a lifelong employee on the 5th floor of St. Mary’s General Hospital, beginning as a candy striper volunteer when a young girl and reluctantly retiring from her role as an RN in 2014.

Beth married Terry in 1981, and her greatest joy was in being a mother to her four wonderful children - David (Laurel), Josh (Jess), Alison (Pete), and Joel (Alli). She poured her life and love into this role and later experienced the special joy of becoming a grandmother to Lindsay, Naomi, Leah, and Phoebe.

Beth became an aunt when she was eight years old, and she will be missed by her nieces and nephews and their children as well. The loss of our dear Beth is especially difficult for her loving mother-in-law Ruth Kreutzkamp.

Everyone who encountered Beth described her as the strongest and most loving person they knew. She faced a number of health challenges throughout her lifetime, including overcoming cancer three times and fought valiantly over the past 16 months against this latest occurrence in her lungs and bones. Beth had a special way of loving others, through truly listening, and caring in practical ways. As her amazing strength slipped away over the past few days, her final words, repeated at least a hundred times, were “I love you!”

We invite you to grieve and celebrate Beth’s life with us at the visitations on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and/or a service of remembrance on Thursday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. These events will take place at the Henry Walser Funeral Home (507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467).
