Being Together:
When I think of Grandma, I think of being together - from early memories of sitting at her kitchen table, doing sticker books with Grandma and chatting about the birds in the garden - to fun summer adventures and Christmas gatherings - to my University years when I felt like the most special person on campus because my grandparents came to Grandparents Day all the way from a different country - to the times when Grandma had her great-grandchildren gathered around her - to the more recent phone conversations when Grandma loved to hear every detail of the new job or the answered prayers, and the house projects. All of these memories with Grandma contain a common thread: Grandma found such delight in being together, being with family. Grandma once wrote to me that there is nothing more important than First of all - honoring the Lord with all our hearts, then maintaining our closeness and love for all our family.
We all are so blessed that Grandma loved us and spent her life investing in us. To her it was pure delight, just as she described in a note that she gave me at my University graduation. She wrote: For me the dearest people on earth are my family - every single one of you. Nothing in life is more special than just being together - hearing your plans and dreams - sharing our fun - (and games) - sharing our memories of past get togethers. Love, Elissa
