Obituary for Eileen Mannarelli

Mannarelli, Eileen

Eileen Mannarelli (nee Phillips) was born on August 6, 1950, and passed away on April 3, 2024, shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Eileen was the fifth child in her family of thirteen kids. She is predeceased by her parents, Iris Phillips (nee Anderson), Thomas Phillips, her step-mum Edna Phillips (nee Tyler), and her siblings Robert, Gwendoline, and Myra. She will be dearly missed by her surviving siblings: John, Pauline, Thomas, Christine, Josephine, Beryl, Rosemarie, Susan, and Trevor, and all of their partners, kids, and grandkids.

Eileen will be most missed by her kids: Carinta (David), Marina (Michael), and Leonardo (Kirsten). Memories of Nanny will be treasured by her six grandchildren: Mason, April, Marcus, Emma, Russell and Abigail.

When she was 17, Eileen immigrated to Canada from London, England, with her dad, step-mum, and 4 siblings. She spent her early years living in the Toronto area, then Hamilton, and eventually got married and raised her family in Kitchener. After spending years at home raising three kids, she trained as a bus driver and started working part-time for Shantz Coachlines. This later turned into a full-time career working for Grand River Transit.

Eileen’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Sunnyside for the loving care that they provided over the past year. Eileen was a strong supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society and SickKids Hospital. In lieu of flowers, all are invited to honour her legacy by donating to these charities.

Eileen's family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
