Edward Piwowarek
Edward Joseph Piwowarek
September 15, 1935 - July 15, 2019

Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on July 15, 2019 at Innisfree House at the age of 83. Ed was born in Kitchener to the late Albert and Sophia (Czarny) Piwowarek. Beloved husband of 60 years to Donna (Scheels). Cherished father to Susan and her husband Jonathon Dent and Wendy and her husband Graham White. Adored Poppa to Mackenzie Dent (Diana Solakov), Michael Dent (Julia Schippke), Elissa Dent and Tessa Dent (Curtis Pfisterer). Loved cousin of Sonja Piotrowski (Walter - deceased). Brother-in-law to Betty Anstett (Jerry - deceased), Sandra Balheim (John - deceased), Karen and Gary Angst and Pamela Murphy.

Ed’s life work was comforting and caring for families. He was a funeral director at Gruhn Funeral Home from 1955-1967 and in 1967 became a co-owner of Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home which he operated until 1988. Ed was a longtime member and past president of the Kitchener Westmount Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow award for his service to Rotary. He was a member of the K-W Business Men’s Club, K-W Probus Club, an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus #1504, past President of Central Ontario Funeral Directors Association, and on the Board of Directors of the Family and Children's Services Foundation.

Ed was an avid skier, sailor, fisherman and cottager. His greatest joy was when the family was together. He treasured time at the cottage and the memories that were created there with family and friends over the last 55 years.
