Obituary

Gromek, Edward
It is with great sadness that the children of Edward Gromek announce the sudden passing of their father on February 25, 2020. Edward was a hardworking man who made sure his family was taken care of. He was a proud grandfather of 8 grandson’s and he will be smiling down on them when he sees that they will carry his body to its final resting place, beside his loving wife Teresa.
Passed away at Grand River Hospital at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Teresa (nee Suchecka). Loving father of Bogdan (Audra), Ella (Friedrich), Zuzanna (Craig) and Anna. Proud Dziadek of Owen, Sullivan, Andreas, Adrian, Jacob, Isaac, Noah and Kristian. Son of the late Zofia and Boleslaw Gromek. Dear brother of Stella, Maria (predeceased), Eugene, William and Helen.
Edward arrived to the USA at the age of 25 after serving in the Polish Army. Shortly thereafter he moved to Canada with his wife Teresa and in Kitchener-Waterloo they lovingly raised their children. Edward enjoyed entertaining friends at home with his wife. They hosted many Polish Immigrants ensuring that these new Canadians never felt alone or without a helping hand. He also spent countless hours with his wife Teresa supporting the Solidarity movement in Canada to free Poland from communism.
Edward enjoyed taking his family on many camping trips and road trips. He took his family out east, and they enjoyed various camping sites in southwestern Ontario. There were many trips to the USA to visit his siblings and parents too. He was a musical man who enjoyed playing the accordion for friends and family and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Edward’s family will receive friends on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. (prayers will be said at 3 p.m.) with a second visitation from 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Polish Legion on Wellington Street, Kitchener.
Expressions of sympathy can be made via Mass request for Edward, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
