Obituary for Edith Madeline Wakutz

Edith Madeleine Wakutz

Adored by her 7 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Edith was the heart, the nucleus of her family. She was the centre everyone gravitated to, the open arms her family knew to count on when they were in need of support, guidance and unending love. She did everything with kindness and a lively spark that lit up any room she entered. Her immense generosity never went unnoticed. She found her joy by the stove, cooking her famous spaghetti, reading in the sun, socializing by the pool, a good card game of Wild Rummy or an intense game of Cribbage (that she always won), watching her beloved Young and the Restless and always, in her cherished family.
Edith was the epitome of style and class and spent many years in the bridal industry. She believed anything could be made better with an excellent red lipstick and a pretty new blouse. Above all, Edith possessed the biggest heart and such a contagious zest for life, truly living hers to the fullest. She has moved on to her next adventure, reuniting with her late husband, but knowing Edith, she won’t be far away, always watching, protecting and guiding the people she loved most. And all of their lives are so much better, so much more enriched and filled with love for having the opportunity to know her and be loved by her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation.
