The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Earl Schedewitz can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

My memories up to the age of 12 - in fact, my entire childhood in Canada - are inextricably linked to Earl, my father, and my uncle Clayt. They were good-humoured, spunky hunting buddies. Photographs of them beaming together (generally with rifles and quarry) are among my most prized personal possessions. Our families were together often. It was always an adventure visiting Sandra and Jim. Doris and my mother were very close. My father parted too soon. Earl and Clayt and I remembered him together some years ago when we gathered at Earl's townhouse in Kitchener. I was revisiting my old home territory with my wife, Bettina, and our two boys - Anton and Ben - who were then small but are now over 20. Clayt and Jim came over too, on very short notice. I was so happy to see Earl and Clayt still smiling and laughing with the same spirit and wit. We laughed about the squirrels and birds causing mischief around Earl's terrace. It was marvellous to see he had found Gwen. She showered my boys with kindness. It was like a homecoming.
