Obituary for Donald Marshall Parker

Parker, Donald "Don":

A difficult battle with cancer has taken our Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend. On January 31st, 2023, after fighting tirelessly, Donald Marshall Parker passed away at Innisfree House in Kitchener, at the age of 59. Don will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 27 years, Teresa Rafferty and his two daughters; Shelby and Chloe. Don also leaves behind his siblings, Beth and Cameron (Svetlana) Parker, along with his Niece Stephanie (Tim) and Nephew Dalton, and five great-nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents (Murray and Margaret Parker).

Don will be remembered for his easygoing, but most of all kind and genuine nature. He spent most of his life working with his hands during his career in the trades. Don was charismatic, he enjoyed life and being around people. Don was known for helping others; his family, friends, neighbours and even strangers. Donald's love of music and laughter was a true testimony of his character and one of the foundations that many lifelong friendships were built upon.

Above all else, Don loved and cherished his family, to which he was openly proud and supportive of. Together, Don and his family navigated a life that was not always predictable, but always full of love.

Until the end, Don remained optimistic and saw positivity in every challenging moment, a reminder of the funny and loving man that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Don's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel to follow at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to stay for a time of reception.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).

We would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Innisfree House for making Don's final days so peaceful. And to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre whose care gave Don two more memorable years with his family and friends.
