Hishon, Donald Thomas (Donny):
Passed away on September 30, 2021 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, at the age of 78.
Much loved father to Caitlin and Andrea. Cherished grandfather to Brooklynn. Loving brother to Sharon (Jerry) Kay, Terry (Anne) Hishon, Maureen (Paul) Morrison, Mary Anne (Dave) Durbin, and Juli (James) Watson. Loved brother-in-law to Deb (the late Tom, 2018). Special friend of Mary Anne, Donny will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Olly is going to miss his human and will be forever grateful for Donny's love. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Beatrice. Friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W. Donny sponsored many people and shared the message to everyone. Donny was the 2021 recipient of the Senior-of-the-Year Award for the City of Kitchener. On October 1st, Donny was awarded the very prestigious award of Senior Achievement Award 2021 from the Province of Ontario for his numerous hours of volunteer work at Grand Valley Institution in Kitchener.
Cremation has taken place, Donny's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery where Donny will be laid to rest with his parents. Those wishing to attend Donny's visitation and/or funeral service are asked to RSVP by visiting the funeral home website or by telephone.
