It is with the deepest sorrow we announce the passing of David Paul McQuay on the 25 th of May 2021. Born August 23 rd , 1946 to Morley and Vera (nee Miller) in Kitchener Ontario. David leaves in love, his beloved wife Mary Lynne (nee Wrathall) and children Brenda (Jarid) and David Jr. (Shannon), sister Barbara and much-loved nephews Brent and Tyler.
In 1974 David left his job at Bauer Skate to pursue a career with J.M. Schneiders, a position in Order Fill he held until his retirement in 2003. In his off-time David could often be found camping and fishing, at the local rink watching his granddaughter (Ayrial) with the Lady Rangers or his grandson (Kaden) with the Panthers / Tigers. David’s generous and charismatic attitude have thankfully and successfully been passed down to and showcased everyday in his grandchildren Aaralyn and Easton as well.
“Grampy” as he was affectionally known has been a staple at so many Kitchener Minor Sports events and David’s passion for sports was never ending and loyal to the last. He had fought many a battle with various illnesses over the last 20 years, and in his final moments he waited for family and ultimately the Leaf’s puck drop before he finished his final fight. May he rest in Peace, and may he add “Go Leafs Go”.
As per David’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
In David’s memory donations to the Heart and Stroke, Canadian Mental Health Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Visit www.henrywalser.com for David's memorial.
