Obituary for Darren Christie

Christie, Darren John:

It is with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to our dear son and loving brother, Darren Christie. He passed away peacefully in his sleep May 9, 2023.

Darren was born in Kitchener on June 30, 1971, he is survived by his parents, Jack and Jean Christie and his sister, Colleen Christie.

Darren was a wonderful person who loved anything to do with nature. He always said, "find me a cabin in the middle of the woods with a dog of course" and he would be completely happy. He loved animals and was a wonderful uncle to Nelly, Colleen's dog who loved her uncle Darren dearly. Anyone who met Darren instantly knew what a great guy he was. He was so personable, and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He knew what he wanted and went for it, very good at making decisions and just living life the way he wanted and on his own terms.

We are completely heartbroken that Darren had to leave us too early in life and can not imagine a world without him in it. That being said, it gives us great comfort to know that he is no longer in pain and suffering. He was as strong as they come and fought a great fight but in the end he knew it was time and he moved on to his spiritual journey.

It is so hard to comprehend that he is no longer with us, but he will live on in our hearts forever and we will keep his memory alive. It was Darren's wish not to have a service, however he did want his family to know he loved them and will see them on the other side!

He is now with his Uncle Lee, Grandma, Grandpa and his cousin Mindy and no doubt laughing, carrying on and most likely driving Grandpa crazy! We love you Darren and will miss you terribly. Rest in peace sweet brother and dear son your new journey is just beginning!

Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home (519) 749-8467.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
