Obituary for Claire Raymond Dionne
Claire Raymond Dionne passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s hospital, surrounded by family on Sunday January 31, 2021, at the age of 94. Dear husband of the predeceased Jean Dionne for 56 years. Cherished father of Robert Dionne and his wife Julie, Leslie Waitson and her husband Gary and the late Judith Anne Dionne-Hayes and her husband Glen. Claire will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Emily and her partner Aaron, Lauren and her husband Michael, Robert and his wife Gia, Erin and her husband Ray, as well as his four great-grandchildren, Rachel, Isaac, Jude and Keighan.
Claire was a veteran who enlisted in the RCN when he was 17 years-old and worked as a postman for 40 years. He will be remembered for his endless patience, generosity and good-natured spirit. Claire was a storyteller who loved Westerns, strawberries with Cool Whip and enjoyed feeding his backyard squirrels and birds.
Sincere gratitude is extended to the staff of the St. Mary’s emergency and 500 medicine units, with special thanks to nurses Tamara and Chris, as well as Dr. Kirolos and Dr. Upenieks for providing such compassionate care to Claire at the end of his life.
