Obituary for Chester Godfrey Osmond

Osmond, Chester Godfrey:

Chester Godfrey Osmond, 81, passed away at the Village of University Gates on October 11, 2022, with his wife Marlene at his side.

Chester was born August 21, 1941, in Twillingate, Newfoundland. He is predeceased by his first wife Iris (Gillingham) Osmond, and his parents Gilbert and Marjorie Osmond.

Chester is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Marlene (Williams Abrams) Osmond; their children Richard (Carley) Osmond, James Abrams, Suzie (Trevor) Davis; grandchildren Chase, Carter and Sophia Osmond, Tanner (Erin) Davis, and Tyler (Amanda) Davis; great granddaughter Chloe Davis; sisters Alice Osmond of Newfoundland and Christine Holtorf of Nova Scotia, brother Frederick Osmond of Markham, brother-in-law Basil (Mona) Gillingham of Newfoundland, brother-in-law Richard (Joan) Williams of Sarnia, and sister-in-law Carolyn Alcock of Goderich and several nieces and nephews.

Chester moved to Ontario in 1967. Chester worked as an auto mechanic before beginning his over 30-year career in the smokehouse at Schneider's in Kitchener. His interests included talking to buddies on CB radio, photography and videography.
Chester attended The Salvation Army Kitchener Community Church and Family Care Center.

Sincere thanks to special neighbors and friends for their many acts of kindness and support over the years, and to the staff at University Gates nursing home for their care of Chester for the past year and a half.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the Salvation Army KCCFCC, 75 Tillsley Dr., Kitchener. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Masks and social distancing measures kindly requested by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army or to Project Hope would be appreciated.
