Davies, Charles Edgar (Ed):
After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Ed passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Grand River Hospital. He was greatly loved, and will live in our hearts forever. Beloved husband of Marlene (King). Loved Father of Shawn (Kristi) of Kitchener, Stephanie (Stuart) of Witchita, Kansas, Matthew (Janine) of Paris, On, John (Linda) of Mississauga. Predeceased by his son Joseph. Precious Grampa to Lauren, Madelyn, Evan, Isla, Maelle, Bobby, Adam & Amanda. Ed was born and raised in Toronto and moved to Kitchener in 1964. Ed was a valued employee of Proctor and Gamble for 37 years. He dedicated his life to countless charities in the Waterloo region. A 48 year member of K-W Civitan Club. In 2008, Ed was inducted into the Waterloo County Hall of Fame for founding the projects of the Children’s Safety Village & Civitan Senior Housing, among other contributions. Ed had a passion for sports and was a historian at heart. He spent many years and countless hours researching, documenting and honouring local athletes for both the Kitchener and the Waterloo Sports Parade of History.
Ed was a lifetime cottager on his beloved Lake of Bays. He had a passion for the rich history of the Muskokas and this beautiful lake. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:30 am. A private family interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery will follow a public reception at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada or the K-W Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
