Obituary for Charles Daub

Daub, Charles F.

It is with enormous sadness that our family shares the passing of Charles Daub, surrounded by love, on July 3, 2022, age 81. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Shelley, Jeffrey (Sara), Tracey and Kevin (Sheryl). He will be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren: Ethan, Simon, Kennedy, Easton, Abbey, Brawn, Raine, Mason and Liam. He will be warmly remembered as a loving big brother to Donna (John) and brother-in-law to Karen (Dave) and Pat. His nieces and nephews have many fond memories of Uncle Charlie's kindness. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Loretta (nee Schuett). He left this world smiling as he reunited with Shirley (nee Herzog), his loving partner in life of 55 years.

Charlie. Chas. Papa. Grandpa. Chuckles. Snazzy Chazzy. Mr. Daub. While known by many different names, everyone who knew Chas knew the same, genuine person: a hardworking, family man of tremendous kindness, generous spirit and playful wit. Chas---as Shirley always lovingly called him---was a humble man, but was always bursting with pride regarding his children and grandchildren's individual strengths and talents, ever eager to share the details of his grandchild’s latest game, performance, photograph, or achievement. Everyone who came to the Daub home always felt welcome and valued. While Shirley would bake you up a storm, Chas would ensure your glass was never empty.

Chas valued honest, hard work and he taught his family by example, always lending a helping hand, often before it was asked. Growing up he worked summers on the Schuett farm in Winterbourne, following that with a successful career in manufacturing that included over 25 years at Electrohome, as well as time at Fasco Motors and Standard Products. Education was extremely important to Chas and a visiting child could always expect to be asked “How are you doing in school?” He could fix anything and spent many happy hours working around the house or in his magnificent vegetable garden. He enjoyed spending his time watching sports, playing golf, fishing, reading the paper and watching big budget movies, while munching on cheezies. He always kept the jelly bean bowl full and never turned down an offer of ice cream.

Friends and family can come together to remember Chas from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo, on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. A light lunch will be served afterwards, followed by a private interment.
