Born: June 26, 1940
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol (nee O'Brien) in Grimsby, Ontario at the age of 83. Carol passed away on September 23, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Her life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children: Paul (Lisa) Reid, Robert (Peggy) Reid, Kirk (Corrie Prince) Reid as well as a friend who was thought of as a daughter, Anita (Brady) Whiteman.
Grandmother of Connor, Mackenzie, Bobbi, Brittney, Gary, Cody, Callum and Clare and many great-grandchildren.
Sister of Laura (Mike) Dallien, Pat (Wayne) Dawson, Ruth (Eddie) Doolan, and brother Myles (Sharon) O'Brien.
Carol will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Predeceased by her parents William and Bernadette O'Brien, her sister Della Pynn, and brother William (Marina) O'Brien.
Carol worked hard all her life. She was employed for many years at the Independent Order of Foresters. Afterwards, she became an integral member of the staff at Doon Village Retirement Residences in Kitchener.
She truly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and never took them for granted. She loved her return visits to Cape Breton and always made a point of visiting her close friends and family when travelling.
She held her dear friends very close to her heart and always had a kind word for everyone.
A very special thank you to the staff of Deer Park Villa for their attentive and compassionate care of Carol.
Carol's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. on Monday, October 2 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, ON (519-749-8467). A Celebration of Life for family & friends will be held at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Interment will take place in Gardiner Mines, Cape Breton at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deer Park Villa & Suites (donation cards available at the funeral home).
