Obituary for Carl Heuckroth

Carl Clifford Heuckroth, 88, formerly of Sandusky, died July 8, 2020, at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 30, 1932 in Kitchener, Ontario and had been a Sandusky resident for the past 25 years, moving from Detroit, MI. He had also lived in Chicago, IL and had a home in Lodi, OH.

Carl owned and operated Baywinds Athletic Club, Sandusky for 25 years. He worked for Shan-Rod Inc. in Berlin Heights as a welding engineer retiring after 20 years in 2005. He had also worked for Oxy-Arc Inc. Montreal, Quebec, General Dynamics, Chicago IL., and had been Vice President of C.H. Symington Co., Royal Oak, MI.

He was a past member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Kitchener, Canada, a member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, Bloomfield Open Hunt, and the US Tennis Association. Carl held several patents on a (USPTO) Wire Drive System, Bulk Wire Storage and Transportation, and a Welding Wire Spool Shroud.

He loved tennis, his boats, and hockey. he also loved his farm in Lodi where he raised horses, transporting them back and forth from Holly, MI where they were bred.

He is survived by his children, Carol Heuckroth of Berlin Heights, Carl J (Tawnya) Heuckroth of Lexington, KY, and Susan Heuckroth of Morristown, NJ; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and his brothers, Lorne (Joyce) Heuckroth of Canmore AB, Canada, and Wilbert (Hanna) Heuckroth of Waterloo, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Susan (nee Schenk) Heuckroth.

He will be buried at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

The family suggests memorial contributions to charity of the donor’s choice.
