Obituary for Bhanmatie Sukhram

Bhanmatie Sukhram
Bhanmattie Sukhram aka “Princess Margaret”, “Meggie”, “Shugga Mama”
Bhanmattie Sukhram was born on July 19th 1943, in the village of 71. She was the only child to her mother Sumintra Mangal fondly known as “Bird Egg.” However modest their living situation she was treated as the princess. At the age of 18 she married the love of her life Mohan Sukhram, fondly known as “Kato/Barry.” Their marriage was one filled with love, unity and hard work. She not only cared for her husband and in-laws- she cared and cooked for all her brothers-in-law and quickly became the symbol of a nurturing and hardworking individual. Living in a modest home made of cabbage wood, Meggie made a home for her children to feel loved and happy. Her mother lovingly moved with them and contributed her home via donkey cart.
On the night of her 40th birthday she lost her dear Mohan, who heroically went to save his father and scarified his own life instead. Like a true Sarwan Kumas Mohan served his parents and gave his life for them.
Though stuck in rural country of Guyana with her 5 children, she quickly became both mother and father to them. She worked day and night tolling to support her children. Meggie along with 4 children immigrated to Canada where worked to create opportunities for them. She has not only cared for her kids but became the pinnacle of motherhood and a helping hand to every single one of her grandchildren.
Meggie battled over 30 years with a number of illnesses but never let them stop her from being a loving Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-grandnanny and loving sister-in-law. She never failed to stay in touch with all relatives and family from afar. A straunch devotee of Krishna, always praising her god and loving every religion.
Meggie was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law, Bram. She will be greatly missed by her 5 children, Devika, Lalita (Husband Mity), Indira, Kamal (and his wife), Cindy and Jean. Her Grandchildren: Tina, Amanda, Camille, Teddy Bear, Robeena, Christina, Deanna, Jason, Anjalie, and Brandon. Her Great-Grandchildren: Kayden, Mya, Ethan, Kayla, Leah, and Bailee. Grand son-in-laws: Byron, Chris, Andrew, Rocky.
She leaves behind a legacy that will always honor and cherish her memory. May she rest in paradise as she was reunited with her love.
