Obituary for Bernadette Lorentz

Lorentz, Bernadette

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Bernadette Lorentz (Yantha) announce her passing. Bernadette came into the world on April 22, 1953 “Earth Day” and in her own ironic, poetic way she said her goodbye on the first day of spring, March 20th, 2021 at the age of 67. She always found her joy in life through the beauty in nature. She showed great courage and strength up until her last breath.

Bernadette is now in the embracing arms of her loving husband Patrick Lorentz, who passed in 2011. Married 38 years and friends of 42 years. They can now enjoy watching their grandchildren together from above. She will be reunited with her brother Gregory, her parents Sylvester and Mary Yantha, and others whom have passed that she shared her life with.

Bernadette is survived by her four children Stacey Edgar (Kirby), Ben Lorentz (Chrisy), Kaity Lorentz (Tyler), and Sara Lorentz (Jon); as well as her five beautiful grandchildren Kevin, Kieran, Mason, Natalie, and Patrick. She will be deeply missed by her loving sisters Linda Heibein (Carlo), Gail Guindon (Marc), and Joyce Yantha (Gregory). Her fun loving spirit will also be missed by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her many friends.

Bernadette dedicated 25 years to Hospice Volunteering, immensely enjoyed her career working as a DSW and her years helping at the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her passion was helping others. She enjoyed the simple things, her grandchildren’s giggles, road trips to the unknown, looking for thrift stores and antique shops with the love of her life and friends. She loved talking to strangers, the company of stray animals, and a good cup of instant coffee. She had a great enthusiasm for poetry and art.

Bernadette's family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener.

A private service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Private cremation has taken place.

Please register on the funeral home website to attend the visitation and masks are necessary.

In lieu of flowers donations to HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre and K-W Habilitation would be appreciated.
