Obituary for Benjamin Joseph Dronyk

Dronyk, Benjamin Joseph

With sadness we announce that Ben passed away at Freeport Hospital on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the age of 40. Beloved son of Linda (nee Craig) and Dr. Bill Dronyk. Adored brother of Mandy Dronyk (Naomi Devonport) and brother-in-law of Carl Blake. Devoted Uncle Ben to Brielle and Emery Blake. Best friend of 25 years to Brian Collins, Adam Derschner, Mike Avgousti and Aaron Morris. Trusted dog dad to Ridley. Ben will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Ben loved being at the cottage in Tobermory, working many seasonal jobs over the years and creating lasting friendships. He spent many summer days sailing, golfing, and playing ball. He enthusiastically watched both the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs compete, and could often be found at his computer, playing video games, checking the markets, playing online poker, or watching movies. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University’s Economics program, Ben was brilliant at math and finance and his careers in banking and insurance reflected this skill.

Ben was known to eat ice cream and cereal in huge bowls, play cards and board games to win and for being able to figure out even the most complicated instructions and then show you how to do it. He enjoyed travelling to many different parts of the world, particularly on cruises. His wide, gap-toothed smile, warm hugs and sarcastic humour will be greatly missed.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home (519) 749-8467. A Gathering to Celebrate Ben's Life will be held at Deer Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Open House from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
