Obituary for Arend Franciscus Adrianus Rossel

Rossel, Arend Franciscus Adrianus "Art":

Passed away on January 4, 2021 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 73 surrounded by his immediate family after a battle with lung cancer.
Art was born in ‘s-Gravenhage in the Netherlands to Gerrit and Elisabeth Rossel on January 1, 1948 and moved to Canada by himself when he was 18. He married Sylvia Vanderloo on July 31, 1976. He worked as a real estate agent for several decades and enjoyed the last two decades making homes “gezellig” as a painter. He was involved in the Optimist Club, and more recently in Friendship and Joyful Noise in the Waterloo CRC, and the Bridgeport Cafe. Art can be described as a person who loved the Lord, his family and everyone whom he could speak with.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Elisabeth Rossel, his mother-in-law, Ann Vanderloo, his brother Frans, and his brother-in-law Peter Beutler.
Art is survived by his wife Sylvia, his sons Tony (Annette), and Bernie, his daughter Liesje Snieder (Reto Ammann), brothers Ger (Ria), Cees (Ineke), and Rob (Sjouke Bruinsma) and dearest sister Henny Beutler, sister-in-law Hanny Rossel, his grandchildren Jonathan, Levi and Judah Snieder and Olivia, Caleb, Charlotte and Lily Rossel, his father-in-law Hendrick Vanderloo, his brothers-in-law Henry Vanderloo (Ann), Mike (Kim), Frank (Evonne), Dave (Tara) and sisters-in-law Jeannette Chapman (Gord), Frances Pavao (Walter), Karen Hakkers (Jim), Annette Vanderloo (Greg) and countless nieces, nephews and their children. He is also survived by countless friends, neighbours, and customers who adored him and his zest for life.
The Rossel family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff in the ICU departments of Grand River Hospital.
Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A private family service will take place with a private interment at Parkview Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Waterloo CRC to the attention of “Friendship”. This was the group he volunteered at that works closely with mentally, emotionally or physically challenged youth and adults (cards available at the funeral home).
