Obituary for Ann Marie Kienapple (Murphy)

Kienapple, Ann (nee Murphy):
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a short, courageous battle with cancer on October 14, 2019 at Freeport Health Centre at the age of 84. Loving Mom to Katherine Brenner (Rob), Karen Kienapple, Paula Kienapple-Summers (Bob), Jeffrey, Michael, Mary Longpre (John) and Maureen Rockel (Amy). Cherished grandma of sixteen and great-grandma of two. Predeceased by her husband, Jerry (1986), her parents, Edward (Buster) and Katherine (Katie), her brother, Ron Murphy and her sister, Betty Royle.

She was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario where she learned to figure skate and brave those cold northern Ontario winters. After high school, she made her way south to Kitchener/Waterloo where she met and married Jerry Kienapple.

Mom was a woman of faith and a devoted mother to her seven children, offering love, guidance and support unconditionally. Never one to complain, mom was from the "can do" generation making the best of any situation and always looking for the good in other people. Both Jerry and Ann were active members of St. Anthony Daniel Parish, and served as Eucharistic ministers, readers and on parish council.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Freeport Palliative Care 3rd floor for their outstanding care of our mother on her journey home.

Ann's family will receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's R.C. Church on October, 268 East Ave., Kitchener, on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Tom Vermiglio, celebrant. Reception after mass in the church hall followed by the interment at Woodland Cemetery, 119 Arlington Blvd.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
