Blessed to have met him

I first met Andrew in woodstock. I had moved to town from Niagara. Andrew was one of the first individuals I met- he had a strong, firm and tough demeanour. Over time I realized this was just his exterior- he was funny, loving, caring and deliberate on the inside. Over the following 2 years, we would meet 3-5 times a week and talk. He wanted nothing but the best for me. He would often say honesty without compassion is brutality. He loved that mantra- always willing to give you his honest support. Andrew was special. In many ways, I have Andrew to thank for the person I am today. I moved away and things changed, yet I continued to be a better person for having known Andrew. I opened up the paper this morning and was shocked to read his name. I will continue to think of him often.
