Obituary for Althea Mary Guy

Guy, Althea

Althea Guy passed away on Dec 28, 2020 at the age of 70.
Beloved mother to Alicia Guy, Athena Guy and Adeline Guy. Cherished grandmother to 7 grandchildren.
Althea is sadly missed by many siblings: Doreen, Ocelia, Remy, Zena, Winston, Hollis, Hazel, Leonard, Jennifer, Eileen, Heather and Anthony; especially Heather. 
Althea was a special niece to Dr. Leonard P. Fletcher (& family), special aunt to Barrington Fletcher (& family) and a special cousin to Arlene Fletcher (& family). 
Her dearest friends are Marcia Knight and Isabel Samuel. She will be missed by many more friends and family throughout Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. 
Althea emigrated from Trinidad to Canada to begin a career in nursing, receiving a diploma as a Registered Practical Nurse.  Althea worked at Freeport Hospital for over thirty plus years where she impacted many co-workers and patients with her warm spirit, loving heart and tough love. Her spirit will always and forever be remembered.
Althea bestowed her talents onto her three daughters Alicia, Athena and Adeline.
Althea truly possessed many talents and gifts which she shared within her community. She quickly immersed herself in sharing her talents to the Kitchener-Waterloo Caribbean Multicultural Association.  She choreographed many dances reminiscent of life in the Caribbean. Althea’s talents and abilities were reflected throughout Kitchener-Waterloo; establishing connections across various regions outside the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
Althea’s loving spirit will always be remembered.

Althea's family will receive friends in family on Sunday January 3rd 2021 from 3:30-6pm at the Henry Walser Funeral Home(507 Frederick St, Kitchener, ON 519-749-8467). Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private funeral will take place. Friends and family are invited to join the service via livestream on the funeral home's website on Monday January 4th, 2021 at 10am. A private burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Guests must RSVP to attend Althea's visitation. Masks are mandatory.
