Obituary for Albert Gordon MacKinnon

Albert Gordon MacKinnon
February 28, 1932 - January 24, 2021

It is with tears and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gord MacKinnon. He passed away at Trinity Village Care Centre after slowly slipping away for many years while living with Alzheimer’s disease.

He is predeceased by his parents Laura and Russell, his first wife Theresa (nee Maddock), his brothers John, Donald, Neil, Ronald, his second wife Carolyn (nee Burke) and his sons Russell and Bradley. Gord is survived by his brother Wayne (Joanne) and his children Laura (Paul), Dean (Andrea), Wanda, Angie and Anita, as well as grandchildren Jeffrey (Nalinee), Andrew (Nicki), Travis, Rebeca, Mitchell and Jennifer, and great grandchildren Jordan, Quinn, Zachary and Owen.

Gord was an amazing man. He was a farm hand and later a dairy man, working at Terrace Hill Dairy in Brantford and Maple Lane Dairy in Kitchener. He played lead guitar in several bands over the years and his house was filled with country music. His vintage Gibson ES355 was a prized possession. He shared this talent with his sons and his granddaughter. Gord was a handyman extraordinaire; he could repair just about anything, tile walls and floors, hang wallpaper, rebuild and rewire a room, and so much more. He loved wood working and made oak cabinets, quilt racks, beautiful shelving, wooden frames and boxes. Gord was such a funny man who kept us laughing all the time. His battle with Alzheimer’s was a big challenge but Gord stayed that calm, kind, funny man throughout. He gradually lost his words, but his smile remained until the end.

Donations in memory of Gord can be made to Trinity Care Centre, Cherry Orchard or to the Alzheimer Society.
