Obituary for Albert Edward Luft

Luft, Albert Edward:

Passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife Dorothy by his side, on December 27, 2020. Last Monday marked the 90th year this world has had the pleasure and honour of Albert's company. Ab/Dad/Papa was a true gentleman, with a kind, caring and compassionate personality and a genuine zest for life as evidenced by the twinkle in his eye and his infectious smile.

Albert was the son of Herman and Eleanor Luft and grew up in the Courtland Avenue area of Kitchener; there he made many lifelong friends who shared in worldly travel adventures and a monthly card club.  He was employed by the Kitchener-Waterloo Record for 22 years, in various accounting positions.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (Durrer) for 67 years. Loving father of Barry Luft (Karina), Jim Luft (Tina), Laurie Partridge (Arthur) and Donna MacLean (Al). Proud and loving Papa to grandchildren Jessica Luft (David), Tyler Luft (Adrienne), Jake Luft (Candace), Kristi Pearce (Rob), Kelly Schiedel (Ryan), Zachary Luft, Ashley Wojcik (Kam), Jody Blissett (Russ), Lindsay Maskell (Scott), Alex Luft and Scott MacLean (Kaitlin).  Special great-grandfather to Taylor, Brooklynn, Kendra, Katrina, Dominic, Harper, Mya, Isaac, Charlie, Nash and Lena.

Survived by brothers William (Shirley) and Robert (Nancy), sisters-in-law Betty Borho, Patricia Durrer, and Mattie Durrer, brother-in-law Lorne Durrer (Fran) and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by brother Herman, sisters Esther Martin, Audrey Eichholz and Betty McKinnon and daughter-in-law Debbie Luft.

A private family service will be held at Historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where Albert was baptized confirmed and has faithfully served throughout his lifetime. The livestream service for Albert ( https://www.historicstpauls.ca ) will be online for family and friends on Thursday, December 31 at 11am.
