We remember the end of World War II. it is so special that he just passed away in this time.of the year. We had the honour to have Al as a veteran in our family and our village. Such a good man. Condolence: And if it fall unto my lot That I should rise and you should not I'll raise a glass and softly call Good night and joy be to you all I too had the pleasure - and the honour - of making Al's acquaintance at Arnhem. We commemorate history. He made it. The Dutch are grateful for what he did. We should all be grateful for what he and his comrades showed us that we can do.

Condolence From: Sabine Nolke
Condolence: My deepest condolences on the passing of Albert Goebel, one of Canada's finest - taken at nearly 99 years yet far too soon. My heart breaks for his family and friends. I had the privilege of meeting Al in my former capacity as Canada's Ambassador to the Netherlands, when he attended the annual commemorations in Arnhem. Kind and humble, but still possessed of the fire that allowed him to play his role in history. The world is a lesser place for the passing of men like Al, ordinary men who did the extraordinary when their country and the world needed them. We will not see their like again. Condolence From: Welcome Again Veterans comite Deventer (Netherlands)
Condolence: A last salute to a Veteran who was partly responsible for the WWII liberation of the Netherlands, Albert Goebel. Many times we have met this Hero and very sorry that he has not experienced the 75th anniversary of this anniversary. He liked to be seen in the municipality of Deventer and he had closed the village of Lettele to his heart. He does not deserve to have to say goodbye to life in this way. We are grateful that we got to know him. Jill, Dane and Linda, children and grandchildren, be proud of your father, grandfather and grandfather. He was a beautiful and amiable man. On behalf of Welcome Again Veterans committee Deventer our last salute! Bas van Swigchem, chairman.

Condolence: All my condolences to Al's family. Al was married to my Aunt Lorraine. Aunt Lorraine cherished Al. Not only did I get to know Al through family events and get-togethers but I also saw him at the annual Sunday Remembrance Day celebration at St. Michael Parish in Waterloo. Al was such a kind, gentle man. May he rest in peace.
