Passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Innisfree House, Kitchener. Alan was born in Woolsthorpe -by- Belvoir, England 93 years ago.

Beloved husband of Brenda, dear father of Nick (Julie) and Adele, and grandfather of Chris, Alexandra (Chapin), Andrew and Matthew, and brother of Bruce (Jill).

As a textile Plant Manager he worked in England, South Africa, New Zealand, North Carolina, Canada in Montreal and finally Cambridge. An enthusiastic sailor on Lake Ontario, he taught celestial navigation and was District Commander of the KW Power and Sail Squadron. He was a Warden of St. John the Evangelist Church, Kitchener, and an avid photographer, bird watcher, traveller, theatre-goer and reader. As a member of the Retired Business and Professional Men's Club he enjoyed the Bridge Club. He was a member of the Waterloo Region Nature, and K.W. Symphony volunteers.

Alan's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467, for a visitation, followed by a Celebration of Life in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow after the service. Private cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to Innisfree House or to the Canadian Wildlife Federation are welcome (cards available at the funeral home).
