Obituary for Jerome Engelbert Hauck

Hauck, Jerome:

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Jerome Engelbert Hauck.

Dad passed away on December 24 in the comfort and surroundings of his own home after saying goodbye to those he loved. He was in his 95th year.

Jerome leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorraine of 70 years. Loving father of Faye McAdam and her husband Harold, Gary Hauck, and his wife Robinne and Paul Hauck and his wife Shannon. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Heather, Ian, and wife Natalie; Cam and wife Rachel, Wes, and wife Allie; and Brady and friend Negar; Spencer, Wendell and wife Ashley and Rachel. Dad was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Owen, Lauren, Maggie, Madalynn, Connor, Harper, and Gavin.

Jerome was originally from Formosa, Ontario where he lived with his 10 siblings on the family farm. He eventually made his way to Kitchener where he married his wife Lorraine and raised their family.

Most know Jerome for his award-winning gardens on Courtland Ave. He was an avid gardener and was a member of the K-W Horticultural Society. He worked for Ball Brothers for 10 years as a carpenter, then JM Schneider 35 years where he led the carpentry shop. Jerome was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His work and talents will be treasured by his family where he contributed to the construction and development of decks, pools, retaining walls, fireplaces, birdhouses, projects for the church and schools.

Jerome’s family are proud of their father who heroically cared for his wife Lorraine at their home for many years until his recent brief illness.

A memorial service for Jerome and Lorraine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in the chapel of the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener 519-749-8467 followed by interment at Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Ave E., Waterloo.
