Obituary for Marjorie Ann Batte (Hipwell)

Marjorie Ann Batte (Hipwell)
BATTE, Marjorie Ann (nee Hipwell)

Marjorie died peacefully with her family at her side on July 2, 2018, of complications due to CBGD (a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disease). She was 85.

Beloved wife of Patrick, Marjorie was mother to Paul, Marilyn, Susan and Karen, and loving grandmother to Lochlann and Tighe. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Vivian and Beulah Hipwell, and is survived by her sister, Helen MacGillivray, and brother, Dr. William Hipwell. She will be remembered fondly by her sisters-in-law, Margaret Michel and Lynn Hipwell, brother-in-law, Frank Batte, son-in-law Wade Kuhl, her nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family and friends.

Marjorie had a strong faith, and she was a member of Olivet United Church for many years.

Marjorie’s loving and generous nature was evident throughout her life as a mother and registered nurse. She had an unfailing dedication to her family, and from her, her children learned kindness, patience, and forgiveness. Marjorie will be forever missed.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Trinity Village, who supported Marjorie throughout her disease, from its early stages during her involvement in the Adult Day Program, through to her final days with her family on Oakridge.

A Celebration of Marjorie’s life will take place at St. James'-Rosemount United Church, Kitchener, on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. According to Marjorie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private interment will occur at Woodland Cemetery at a later date.

Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Marjorie in her online book of condolences at: www.henrywalser.com. In remembrance of Marjorie, her family would be grateful if desired donations were made to: Department of Neurological Sciences, University of Western Ontario, Attention: Dr. Penny MacDonald.
