When I was a wee college kid I played a couple of exhibition Basketball games against another Bible College. I got torched by a guy who was older, taller, stronger and far better than I was. He wore Kareem style sports goggles and was all business ...many years later he became a good and very encouraging friend in ministry in our Fellowship Baptist Tribe. He was definitely one of the good guys in my books and I will never forget Steve Baxter. ... Pam and Girls your tributes yesterday were so moving. I will remember the loaves and fishes miracle story the rest of my life. I may as well write "Steve Baxter" in the margins of my Bible right beside the passage, as soon as I finish writing this. I realized while driving home to Brooklin yesterday, that the biggest common interest Steve and I shared (that was such big a part of our friendship) was that I happened to care a lot about two significant ministry brothers of his. I hope that the teeming masses of people that have surrounded you in these recent days confirm that you are not the only three people in the world that know Steve really was a big deal!
