The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of William Neil Widmeyer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Neil, Dr. Wid., was a colleague and a friend. He was a pioneer in developing the field and discipline of Kinesiology and it was my privilege to work along side of him on our academic journey. I am sure that if there is hockey in heaven, Neil and E.J. (his former graduate student) are planning on sitting with Fred Shero and discussing the issue of violence in the HHL (Heavenly Hockey League). Neil made so many of those around him better people just because they knew him. Thanks so much to Lynn and his family for sharing Neil with all of us.
