Schmidt, Peter A.
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital, at the age 87.
Beloved husband and best friend of Alice for over 54 years. Cherished father of Dan and Tom (Kim). Proud grandpa of Susannah, Caroline, Eric, and Michael. Brother of Jakob (Coy) of Kitchener and Nick (Ruth) of Georgia. Brother-in-law of Edith.
Predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Agnes, and twin brother Abraham.
Peter was a member of New Dundee Baptist Church. He was an employee of Smiles and Chuckles for 29 1/2 years, he also worked for J.M. Schneiders for 16 years, and acted as a crossing guard for 26 years. Peter was a member of The Waterloo Regional Police Male Chorus, The Jubilation Choir and The Happy Harmonics Band.
Peter's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 7-9pm, continued visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A service to celebrate Peter's life will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m.
Interment New Dundee Union Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to New Dundee Baptist Church or St. Mary's Hospital- ICU would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
