Obituary for Donna Marie Eykens

Donna Marie Eykens
Eykens, Donna Marie (nee: Joyce)

Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, October 22, 2012 at her residence in her 61st year. Loving mother of Cindy (late Kelly) Dokis, Jamie Eykens and John (Terra) Eykens. Donna took great delight in spending time with her grandchildren, Courtney, Mason Eykens and Nathan Dokis. Loved daughter of Dora Schaus and the late Clayton Joyce. Dear sister of Brian Schaus and Blake Joyce. Step daughter of the late Donald Schaus. Great lifelong friend of Herman Eykens, Joan Joyce, Mona Betker, and Maryanne (Map) Pearson. Donna will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Donna had worked at Merchants, Kaufman Footwear, J.M. Schneiders and lastly for the past ten years at the front counter of Norris Bakery. She was a good friend, always willing to listen and never quick to judge. Donna was always an optimist, loved to travel especially to Jamaica, she loved to have a good time and her laughter would fill the room.

Donna’s family will receive relatives and friends from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012 for a gathering to celebrate her life at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and Para-Med for their care and compassion.

Although Donna has left many family, friends and co-workers behind, she truly cherished memories made with all.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home.)

May your last flight be your greatest and may the sun shine warm upon your face. Until we meet again.
