With his wife by his side, Henry passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Fairview Mennonite Home at the age of 80.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Wilhelmine (Minnie). Loving father of Anne (Terry) Polyak and Darlene (Mike) Giebat. Cherished Opa to Braden, Lauren, Bradley, and Jason. Dear brother-in-law of Rosina Benzin and Maria (Fred) Blumentrath. He is Uncle Henry to many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Kasper and Anna Koestel.
He immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1952 and lived with his aunt and uncle Hobler in Cambridge. For many years, Henry was a machinist at CMC, then he opened his own successful business, Arrow Custom Machining. He was a longtime member of the Transylvania Club.
Cremation has taken place.
Henry's family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
