Obituary for Marlene Lorie Haywood (Gretzinger)

Marlene Lorie Haywood (Gretzinger)
Haywood, Marlene:
Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Innisfree House at the age of 55.
Loving mother of Lindsay and Derick (Maddi Chan). Cherished daughter of Wanda and the late Alex Gretzinger. Dear sister to Harold Gretzinger (Marie Blunt), and Marvin (Mindy) Gretzinger. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, Taucha (Daniel), Brett, Bethany, and Cole (Emma) Gretzinger, Jordan and Aaron Haywood.

Marlene was an organization wizard and spent 18 years with Mutual Life. She had a huge role in the demutualization process and relished a challenge. Despite living with Multiple Sclerosis for 36 years, and finally receiving a cancer diagnosis, Marlene continued to enjoy her work and volunteering. Her refusal to complain and her sunny disposition were her trademarks and she won friends for life wherever she went. Marlene's main goal in her life was to create meaningful and lasting relationships, and she cherished the relationship with her daughter and son most of all.

Cremation has taken place.
Marlene's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at 4:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the funeral home.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region or Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
