Passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Hilda for over 62 years. Loving father of Rita (Frank Balzer), Judy (Ken Woodhouse), Arty Baumann and the late Esther. Proud "Ota" of Jeremy (Elena), Randy (Tirzah), Luke, Glenn (Brigitte), Joe (Mistyna), Kate (Mike), Matt, Julia and great grandfather of Xavier, Brynn, Briar, Sloan, Connor and Alara. Survived by his brother Frank. Mathias was a faithful member of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean).
Mathias's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 and from 9:30-10:15 am on Wednesday July 26, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the chapel on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:30 am. Interment Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to COPI Canada - Sudan Project would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com for Mathias's memorial.
