Peacefully passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Nithview LTCC, New Hamburg.

Born in Toronto on January 14, 1935 to Fred and Willa. Best friend and companion to wife Shirley for 58 years. Dear dad to Geoffrey (Lee-Ann) of Ottawa, Scott (Hanifa) of Kitchener, Dr. Jill Oliver (Greg) of Baden. Cherished grandpa to A.J. and Steven of Ajax, Liam and Shawn of Ottawa, Abby (Mike) and Isaac of Baden and lovingly remembered by great grandson Maxwell.

Dear brother of Jim (Lois) of Kitchener and Margaret Williamson (Jack) of London.

Douglas was a retired Trust Officer with Canada Trust and he served for 37 years, having worked in London, Chatham, Vancouver, Windsor and Kitchener.. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge AF & AM, Waterloo Lodge for over fifty years and a long time member of Forest Hill United Church for over 45 years.

Douglas's family will receive relatives and friends from 7 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Katharine Edmonstone officiating. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
