LUKSA, Juozas (Joseph), Waterloo ON
1925 - 2017

Peacefully surrounded by family, Joseph Luksa passed away on February 28, 2017 at Kitchener's Grand River Hospital.

Joseph was born August 2, 1925, in Ukmerge Lithuania, to Nikodemas and Ona (Martinkaitis). He immigrated to Canada in 1951 where he later met and married his beloved wife of 63 years, the late Lydia (Cibitis) Luksa. He worked hard at Coleman's Meat Packing and then Kellogg's to support, provide for and educate his family.

Having grown up on a farm, Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed nature and wildlife. He also loved good food, his flower garden and working on his property which was his pride and joy. Joe always had a beautiful green lawn and neat gardens wherever he lived.

He is survived by his children Loretta (late Don Cassidy), Len (Karin Morell), and Bernie, and his two grandsons Andrew (Josie, of Miami, FL) and Anthony (Christine, of Grand Prairie, AB) together with his sisters Elena (Giegraitiene) and Jadvyga (Krupauskiene), of Lithuania. He also loved and took great delight in his 6 great-grandchildren; Ares, Ciara, Halena, Isabella, Joseph and John. Predeceased by his brothers Julius and Vytautas, sister Ona (Vitiene) and great-grand daughter baby Olivia Luksa.

The family extends their very special thanks to the medical team, especially Ildiko, at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, who cared for Joseph during his hospital stay.

The Luksa family will receive visitors from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, ON, 519-749-8467. A funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Msgr. Jonas Staskevicius, will be held at Lithuanian Martyrs' Church, 2185 Stavebank Road, Mississauga, ON, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be held following the service at St. John's Lithuanian Cemetery, Mississauga. A reception at Anapilis (church hall) will follow the interment.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer Society, Ontario (cards available at the funeral home) would be appreciated.
