Obituary for Lou Charlton

Lou Charlton
Charlton, Louis "Lou" (November 13, 1925 - March 16, 2018)
Passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home in his 93rd year.
Beloved husband of the late Catherine "Kit" for 58 years.
Proud father of Greg and his wife, Bonnie of Southampton, Kathy and her husband, Drew Ferron of Salt Lake City, and Dave and his wife, Donna of Kitchener.
Loving Grandpa of Rory (Kerry) and Jordan, MacKenzie and Savannah Ferron, and Kelci, Spencer and Macy.
Cherished Great-grandpa of Brielle, Harmony and Kaydence.
Survived by his sisters-in-law, Pat Charlton, Shirley Mills and Lily Sergas.
Lou will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, William and Eleanor, and his siblings, Russ Charlton, Lee Chapman (George) and Vi Cressman (Robert).

Lou proudly served on the frigate HMCS Levis during WWII. Following the war, he soon began working for MacDonald Electric where he serviced many businesses throughout southwestern Ontario. He retired from there after 40 years.

All who knew Lou will fondly remember his passion for sports, especially fishing and golf, and his love of vegetable gardening. He loved nothing more than to sit outside in the backyard, listening to the Blue Jays on the radio, watching out for "Big Red", the neighbourhood cardinal and watching his tomatoes grow while enjoying a nice cold Crystal. He had many friends to spend time with like the Monday morning coffee group, his Golden Oldies at Rockway as well as his fishing buddies. He often visited the guys at the Legion Branch 50 and the Moose Lodge.

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff and doctors at Sunnyside for their loving care of Dad these last 2 plus years. You have become a cherished extension of our family.

Lou’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Private family interment at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sunnyside Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50 would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
