Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the age of 90.
Predeceased by her loving parents, Fred (1981) and Cornelia (1965) Polzin and her sister Dorothy McQuaid (2005). Dear aunt of the late Katherine Ormiston (2015) and her husband Jerry. Cherished friend of Elaine Taylor and her family.
Rita retired from the Kitchener Record after 42 years in advertising and was a longtime volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. Special thanks to all the staff at Grand River Hospital (6 North) for their kindness and care.
Rita's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers 8:30 pm Wednesday. Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 240 Hemlock St. Waterloo, on Thursday November 23, 2017 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at Woodland Cemetery after the reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com for Rita's memorial.
