Obituary for Robert "Bob" Gustav Ulmer

Robert "Bob" Gustav  Ulmer
Ulmer, Robert (Bob,aka Dr. Johnny Fever, Zeek)
Passed away peacefully, with his brothers Richard, Michael and sister Susan by his side on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 59.
Beloved son of Jutta (nee Kirchoff) Ulmer and the late Gustav (2010).
Dear brother of Richard (Danielle Lynch), Susan (Dave Wittie) and Michael (Shelley Bandoni). Dear uncle to Meaghan, Zachary, Alexandria, Ryan, Nylan, Jessica, Tyler and Kaitlyn Ulmer and great uncle to Mikala.
Bob will be missed by his close friends and his Mitel family in Ottawa.
Bob lived a storied life….he was born with a resistor in one hand and a soldering iron in the other….electronics’ was his life….as early as grade 8 he made the KW Record with a weather station he built on his own at Stanley Park Senior Public, in the mid ‘70’s there was an article done on him in an electronics’ magazine, he was completely self taught in his trade…Bob was one of the first 4 people to go up on the CN Tower, he was a roadie for about 10 years with the band “Garfield” from Niagara Falls, he then worked for Otis elevator, a short time with Home Hardware(Stratford) and then his career led him to Ottawa where he worked lived and breathed at Mitel as their “solution” in the “Swamp”…Bob also had a weather station www.weatherlink.com/user/zeek/index.php?view on top of his pride and joy…his home in Constance Bay….where his family away from family was always close by along with his friends and colleagues at Mitel.
Bob’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 2 – 2:45 pm at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Interment in the family plot at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2723 Victoria St. N., Breslau, NOB 1M0 will take place at 1 pm on Thursday, June 7th. Following the interment Bob’s life will be celebrated at 3 pm in the chapel of the funeral home followed by a reception.
Cremation has taken place.
His siblings would like to thank all his close friends and colleagues for all the time, respect, dignity and personal care they gave Bob during his fight with cancer and for the consideration from Mitel to have flags at half mast.
As expressions of sympathy donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
Bob’s family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Ottawa General Hospital – ICU for the care and support given to our brother and for putting up with us over the last 2 weeks.
